Last year it was Tangerine Tango, a fiery orange that fuelled our decor desires; this year the accolade went to luscious Emerald Green. Now Pantone has revealed its colour of the year for 2014: an exotic purple-pink called Radiant Orchid. According to the international colour authority, this new hue “encourages creativity and originality, inspires confidence and emanates joy, love and health” – all irresistible attributes when it comes to weddings! It’s no surprise then that on-trend event planners are already incorporating Radiant Orchid into their celebrations with accent pieces and accessories. Not convinced? Try pairing the warm colour with olive and deeper hunter greens or turquoise, teal and even light yellow (the latter are our favourite combinations!). You can also use it to liven up neutrals such as grey, beige and taupe – and that’s just for the party look. When it comes to bridal make-up, keep in mind that Radiant Orchid suits most hair, eye and skin tones – and looks fabulous on nails too. Finish your fresh look with pink or red lips and cheeks.
