Wedding planners all agree: it’s the little details that make an event stylish (though your genuine happiness on the day will certainly help to ensure the celebration is memorable for guests!). Place cards, escort cards and seating plans are three ways in which you can express your creativity, reinforce your wedding theme and make your friends and family feel special. They don’t have to be pricey either, especially if you’re going the DIY route. Do factor in the time it will take to make them, the additional stress that may pose (A-type perfectionists take note!) and the logistics of setting them out on the actual day – important if you don’t have a wedding planner or onsite coordinator. Place cards and escort cards are often referred to as one and the same, but there is a difference: place cards are found on the actual table (your seating plan will direct guests there), while escort cards are positioned at the entrance to the reception and have both the guest’s name and table assignment written on them. Place cards and escort cards can also double up as wedding favours, which is especially useful for celebrations with no formal seating arrangements, such as picnics and cocktail parties.
