WI spoke to star stylist Candace Allen of Absolute Perfection about what she sees as the hottest wedding trends of 2016

COLOUR CRAZY
Pantone’s 2016 colour forecast is always an influencing factor for wedding colour trends. “I simply love the 2016 Forecast – it’s such a breath of fresh air and I simply cannot wait to style a few weddings with them. Brides who tend not to follow the colour trend for their wedding are opting for all-white with a hint of any of the metallics. Rose Gold and Blush is still a favourite among many brides, but I think this is a colour combination that will always remain a classic choice,” says Candace.

DRESS SUCCESS
“Most brides are opting for the classic, timeless look. Brides for 2016 are looking at making sure that when they look back at their wedding pictures, it will remain the same everlasting elegance,” comments Candace about dress choices for the year.

RECEPTION EXCEPTION
“More and more, brides are definitely embracing lush floral mass installations, paired with unique chandeliers, both suspended as well as on the reception tables. Beautifully draped ceilings are another feature which is taking a forefront,” says Candace. Utilizing unique furniture as statement pieces is also another on-trend reception feature at the moment. “Filling a room with beautiful French chairs is an incredible way to make a classic statement within the styling of your wedding,” she comments.

STATION GAMES
“Food Stations are still very much in, with bridal couples taking their own fun twists on them. S’mores bars, Gourmet Popsicle Bars and even gourmet doughnut bars are just some of the different options to present a unique food station,” says Candace.
“I think the Photo Booth trend is slowly dying out as couples become more and more creative in keeping their guests entertained. Things like “Splash Zones” or “Couples Canvas” (a canvas that guests pop paint filled balloons onto for the couple to keep for their home) are quickly filling the space for entertaining quests. If you are still set on a Photo Booth, a Polaroid booth is becoming a favourite choice among brides, as guests are able to keep a photo of themselves at the wedding as well as fill up a more informal “Wedding Album” for the bridal couple.”

MAN ALIVE
“It’s always a great idea to incorporate a very manly aspect to the wedding, or the men tend to feel like the wedding is simply just too girly for them. Beer Bars and Whiskey stations are definitely a great way to make sure the men at the wedding are all kept happy. In the past, we have also paired whiskey Bars with Cigars, which has always been a hit,” advises Candace.
