Having a gift registry is key. Your guests want to get you something to celebrate your marriage, and a registry assists your guests with making a good decision about what to get you. Setting up a gift list will also prevent gift duplicates.
Make an inventory
Things have changed since the days of setting up a list of everything your imagination can think of for the kitchen. Most couples already have a considerable amount of household items. You can ensure you get only what you really need by:
- Take count of household items that you and your partner already have between you
- Make a wish list of both essential items and luxury items you would like
- Do some research about providers that stock the items on your wish list

Setting up a gift list is something fun to do together. Make sure you communicate to one another what your expectations are regarding wish list wants so that you end up with gifts that you can both put to use.
Choose a wide range of price points
It is difficult to know what people would like to spend on you. To avoid seeming like your expectations are rather high, choose a variety of gifts from small to large items, items where people can share the cost and small denomination gift vouchers.

Although it may seem tempting, adding fashionable items to your list may not be wise. Think classic colours for crockery and bedlinen. Think appliances that will be used daily.
Theme your list
If you are really struggling to keep your list focused, theme it to a room in the house. Ideas include bedroom must-have’s, healthy eating preparation essentials, or an all-white bathroom make-over. This strategy is particularly useful if you already have most of what you need, but feel like one area of your home needs a facelift.
