When high school sweethearts Manuel and Dinette Capazorio tied the knot in a rustic chic ceremony, they were surrounded by friends, family and a whole lot of love in the picturesque grounds of country venue Trés Jolie. Photography by Leon and Valerie Strydom.
DINETTE REMEMBERS
Manuel and I were high school sweethearts. In December 2013, we had gone to Ballito for a holiday and of course, I had my hopes up. On the last day of the holiday, Manuel told me to get ready, he was taking me somewhere. He took me for a horse ride on the beach, to a spot on the beach with a view and went down on his knee, with a surprise picnic and champagne planned.
TELL US ABOUT THE THEME OF YOUR WEDDING
Our wedding took place on 3rd of October at Trés Jolie Wedding and Function Venue in Ruimsig. We chose this venue as they have an absolutely breathtaking chapel, natural and nurtured surroundings and the Fountain Court reception area was also large enough to accommodate the +- 200 guests. The theme of the wedding was shades of blue with a rustic touch. Many of the décor items used we had made, such as wooden patterned underplates, the hessian and lace runners, the hessian backdrop at the main table and wooden boards with meaningful words around the wedding.
AND THE MENU?
As welcome snacks, we served slices of toasted baguette with various toppings, served with halloumi cheese and olives. For starters, we had a spicy beef salad, served plated with a hot herb focaccia, and for mains we had slow-roasted leg of lamb prepared with rosemary, garlic and wine, chicken thighs roasted with thyme, garlic and lemon, served with seasonal roast vegetables, baked butternut and roast potatoes. Dessert was an Amarula malva pudding served with farm-style custard and wedding cake, which was a sponge top served with layers of doughnuts.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY?
For us: Seeing each other in the Church for the first time and the I do’s.
For the guests: We wrote a personalized note for each guest which was written from our hearts, this they found very special.
SPECIAL ADVICE?
Start planning and saving early, it is never too early to start. If it was not for my over cautious approach we would have missed the finer detail which made all the difference. A wedding planner is definitely a good idea, especially considering the final arrangements on the day such as flowers etc – this takes a massive load off your shoulders on your special day. Lastly, go all out. This is the most important day of your life. Don’t hold back. You deserve the best.
