Where to stay
The Cederberg Mountains in the Western Cape have an aspect that’s all their own. Boasting rugged terrain that’s covered in wildflowers from August to October, vast open spaces enclosed by craggy formations, rare wildlife and a vast array of flora and fauna in predator-free surroundings, there’s a lot for discerning guest to do and see at Bushman’s Kloof.
Being in wine country it’s also a hub of epicurean delights and the lodge provides various interesting dining locations for gourmet indulgences. Think walled gardens, private cottages and the formal Homestead restaurant. With Activities that include yoga, picnics, swimming in rock pools, archery and croquet this five-star destination is all about relaxation.
There are sixteen rooms, including two suites, and we’d suggest the Riverside Supreme Suite for the ultimate in indulgent luxury. It boasts ceiling fans, an air conditioner, under-floor heating a private infinity pool, an outdoor shower, discreet housekeeping and lovely bath goodies to spoil yourselves with.
A visit (or several) to the spa is also advisable as, after all, there’s nothing quite as relaxing as a full body massage.
Romantic must
A dual spa treatment in the Spa Gazebo, set on the Boontjies River, is an unforgettable experience. Pair it with an unutterably romantic dinner for two (pre-booking is essential) at Kadoro, the little shepherd’s cottage set in a secret location on the reserve. It’s intimate, indulgent and an unforgettable treat meant to be savoured on your honeymoon.

How to get there:
Self-drive is an option, as are fly-in safaris that land at the airstrip and, if you’re booking into the Honeymoon Riverside Suite for three nights or more, the lodge will arrange a complimentary road transfer.
