One-shoulder dresses are very in right now, but you need a glam hairstyle to match the trendy look. A sleek, one-sided down-do works well to create balance and partially frame the face, yet still shows your neck – which makes it very pretty.

How to:

Apply a shine-enhancing product before you begin styling, as you want your hair to really gleam. Once you’ve ironed your hair straight and sleek, create a deep side parting and neatly sweep your locks to one side. “Firmly secure behind your ear with bobby pins, allowing the length of your hair to fall over the strapless shoulder. Spritz generously with hairspray to keep flyaways at bay, add a pretty clip – and viola, a red carpet-worthy hairstyle,” says Shelene Shaer, co-owner of Tanaz Hair, Body & Nails

High-neck

A high neckline requires an up-style. If it’s a winter wedding and you’re quite covered up, ensure your face takes centre stage with a chic bun, placed low and to the side for a fresh take on a classic look. “This super-trendy style suits most face shapes and emphasizes your best features, like the eyes and cheekbones,” says Shelene.

How to:

Blow-dry your hair with an extra-large brush for volume and shine, then spritz a salt spray thought sections to create texture. Gently rake hair over to one side with your fingers and tie with a hairband. Tease the ponytail and pin messily until all the hair is safely secured. Pull a few fringe pieces out to frame your face and finish with loads of hairspray.

Strapless

If your dress is strapless and has lots of lace and embellishments, go for a fuss-free feminine style and wear your hair down, loose and flowing.

How to:

Shelene recommends that you set your hair really tightly, “so that by the evening the curl would have dropped to the style you want.” After applying a curl-enhancing product, use a large barrel tong to curl hair into sections and leave to set. Be sure not to break the curls by running your fingers through your hair as you want super-structured curls. Pay attention to the hairline and curl these pieces away from your face, so it opens up this area. Finish with a shine spray and add a pretty headband for that something special.

V-neck

A plunging neckline suits a half-up, half-down do. Although you’ll have some cleavage showing , you can balance it with a soft dreamy style that won’t take too much away from your dress, yet still looks polished and pretty.

How to:

Set your hair in curlers for big, loose waves. Tease your crown for height, then take sections from your temples, smooth back over the crown and pin. If you have a fringe, style it neatly to the side for the old-world glam look. “Add a sparkly hairclip and pin your veil into the section where you hair is secured. This look works really well for short brides who need some extra height,” advises Shelene.
